premature ejaculation

What is the premature ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation occurs when a man ejaculates earlier than desired, either by himself or by his partner, during sexual intercourse. Premature ejaculation is a common sexual problem. Estimates vary, but 1 in 3 men say they experience this problem at some point.

It should be noted that both psychological and biological factors can play an important role in premature ejaculation.

Diagnosis

In addition to asking the patient about their sex life, the doctor will ask about their health history, so they might order a physical exam.

If the patient experiences premature ejaculation and also has difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, the doctor may order blood tests to check the levels of the male hormone (testosterone) and other tests.

In some cases, your doctor may suggest consultation with a urologist or other specialists in sexual dysfunction.

How is it treated?

Common treatment options for premature ejaculation include behavioral techniques, topical anesthetics, medications, and psychological counseling.

Likewise, for severe cases and in which no results have been achieved with other types of treatment, surgery can be used to place a penile prosthesis.

All medical insurances are accepted.
